Calculation Feature Comparison
The features supported when running calculations locally and in the cloud are slightly different and it can be difficult to understand what feature is available with which calculation type.
The following table summarizes which features are available (of those that differ) in which calculation configuration:
Feature | 2D Local | 2D Cloud | 3D Local | 3D Cloud |
---|---|---|---|---|
Use slopes for 2D layout regions | No | Yes | N/A | N/A |
Shading from other racks/trackers (row-to-row shading) | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Shading from shading objects and terrain * |
No | No | Yes | Yes |
Bifacial support (2D algorithm) | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |
Bifacial support (full 3D algorithm) | No | No | No | Planned for future |
Custom tracker rotations | No | No | Yes | Early 2023 |
Thin film modules | Yes | Yes | Yes | Early 2023 |
Sites larger than 100MW | Yes | Yes | Yes | Early 2023 |
PVsyst format output file generation | No | Yes | No | Yes |

Shading from shading objects and the terrain itself affects the beam (direct) shading for 3D racks, and the diffuse shading for 3D racks and 3D trackers. Only row-to-row shading affects the beam shading for trackers using the current 3D shading algorithm.
